Heather joined the OTB team in September 2024. She started her time working at the front desk, where she got to know and love the participants as well as the mission here at OTB. She moved into the Studio to become the Sketchpunks/Art Facilitator after filling in for various groups and finding that she liked working with our participants on a more personal level. She then moved on to Learning and Development and HR Specialist.

Heather loves working closely with people of all types and abilities in the various types of work and volunteering that she has done in the past. She has 5 years of HR experience and over 20 years of leadership, management, and training roles.

Heather lives with her husband, Ryan, their two cats Nub and Arisu, and their 2 fish, Ozzy and Lemmy. She spends her free time working on art projects and tending to her large houseplant collection.

Throughout her life, Kyrie has loved and supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in various roles – starting in the 4th grade, where she would spend her recess time with the children that attended the school next door, Tri-County Opportunity School.

Kyrie has been a camp counselor, an instructional assistant, a respite caretaker, and a direct support professional. She is truly the happiest when she is being of service to others!

Kyrie likes to spend her free time with her family and friends, watching movies, and hanging out with her husband, Brian, and their adored animals Blazor, Zoey (dogs), Rika, and Luna (cats).

Elizabeth "Liz" Overcast

Director of Development

Elizabeth Overcast brings a strong background in relationship-building, strategic sales, and event leadership to her role as Director of Development at Outside the Box. Her connection to Outside the Box is deeply personal: her daughter is a proud participant in the OTB’s programs. This life experience fuels her passion for advancing the mission, expanding resources, and ensuring more families have access to the exceptional support that OTB provides.

In her role as Director of Development, she oversees fundraising strategy, donor engagement, community partnerships, and special events. She is dedicated to building a culture of philanthropy that reflects gratitude, transparency, and the shared vision of empowering every participant to thrive.

Elizabeth is known for her warm communication style, collaborative leadership, and ability to inspire others to support transformative work. She is honored to help grow the programs

Max

Max

Max

OTB's Four-Legged Team Member

Indiana Canine Adoption Network

Max is Outside the Box’s spoiled and very well-loved service dog from the Indiana ICAN, He is one of our favorite team members! We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with ICAN, and the positive impact Max has on our participants and staff every day.

He starts his days by greeting our participants and staff with a wagging tail, offering cuddles during a difficult moment, happily accepting belly rubs, and playing ball. Max has a special way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. His calm demeanor, unconditional love, and gentle spirit help create an environment where participants can build confidence, reduce stress, and simply enjoy the day.

One of the coolest things about Max is that he has learned several American Sign Language (ASL) signs, allowing him to communicate with our deaf participants and build meaningful connections with them. It’s just one more way he helps make OTB an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone.

Around here, Max is more than a service dog; he’s a friend, a ball of joy, and a daily reminder that kindness doesn’t always need words.
