About OTB's Day Program

Maslow's Hiercharchy of Needs

Outside the Box implements Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs as a theoretical foundation for empowering people with ID/DD toward unique personal success.

This theory of motivation has five characterizations of human needs that dictate an individual's behavior.

Physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization needs.

Weekly Outings

Vegetable Garden

A Typical Day at OTB

One of the best days of the week is "Community Outing Day!"  Our Direct Support Professionals (DSP) or lovingly called Group Leaders creatively work to find just the right "Outing" to fit the need of their specific group. Museums, a favorite restaurant, the Fair, the movies, a sporting event, the list goes on.

Did you know that you can donate specifically to Group Outings via the Ronald H Moore Group Outing Fund? It helps our Participants to be able to be included without spending their own money

Sensory Garden

Vegetable Garden

Vegetable Garden

In honor of one of our former OTB Participants, Tim Cook, this fenced in outdoor space offers peaceful areas full of perennials, bird houses, harmonious waterfalls, and spacious seating within a protected space of reflection just outside the Community Room.

This beautifully cherished area hosts gazebos for shade and various Studio OTB art as a safeguarded "escape" from some of the inside noise.

We always need some extra volunteer help to keep this area beautiful. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Kyrie Forrester for more information

Special Words ...

"My name is Hannah, and I have been coming to Outside the Box for almost a year now. I love OTB! I have made sooo many friends and the staff are so welcoming and kind to me. I feel like OTB has changed my life in so many ways! I have learned social skills and become a more confident person since attending OTB. I feel like OTB has helped me learn to speak up and grow as a person with my disability and the others around me.

The things that we do here are more than exciting and fun. In my opinion, they're life-changing! We learn about things in life as well as do chores, while playing competitive uno and having some serious water fights as well during the summer. I have been fortunate to grow through a safe but fun environment. I am currently doing choir, cooking classes on Thursday, and I also am reading to a group of participants every week that I come, and I have so much fun with them. I also have been able to work on my skills as a inspiring writer while attending OTB, writing real life stories about things that are both fun and funny in my spare time here at OTB and I love the chance to feel so free and cant wait to see where my life as a writer will take me. I feel so honored and blessed to be able to learn and attend such a wonderful place. OTB rocks!"

... Everyone entering our building is accepted for who they are & has unlimited possibilities
